The checkout page is the most important page on every e-commerce website
According to Ecommerce News, 58% of European checkouts have at least 3 basic errors, which could complicate the checkout process for shoppers.
Stripe, the US-based tech company, reviewed the top 450 e-commerce websites across the UK, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Spain, Italy, and Sweden.
In fact, 42% of them cannot automatically verify the card number as it was entered. Along with that, 29% face the absence of a numerical keypad for entering card numbers on mobile devices. What is more, 39% allow transactions to be submitted with incorrect card numbers or expiry dates.
The report highlighted that in Italy 2/3 of the analyzed websites didn’t confirm the card type when a card number was entered. In addition, 56% didn’t automatically verify the card number.
As to the Netherlands, half of the checkout pages didn’t confirm the card type, whereas 56% let customers attempt to pay with an expired card date.
Checkouts in France performed the worst, with about 4 in 10 not accepting numbers without spaces.
