Stripe Enables In-App Tap to Pay Acceptance

Fintech Stripe now allows merchants to accept payments with Tap to Pay directly in the Stripe app.

Stripe Enables In-App Tap to Pay Acceptance

The Stripe payment company announced that its Tap to Pay SoftPOS solution for merchants is now available via the Dashboard mobile app, without any coding skills or needing a separate mobile app.

Tap to Pay solution allows Stripe merchants to process in-person, contactless payments using only their smartphones as the point of sale device, without additional hardware. This revolutionary payment technology helps small business owners to generate sales cost-effectively. The POS software is supported by most phone models with an NFC module and the latest OS version.

To accept payments with Stripe’s Tap to Pay solution, merchants require a Stripe account, Stripe iOS or Android Dashboard app, and a smartphone supporting the technology (iPhone XS or later running iOS 16.0 or later or compatible Android device), with location permissions enabled.

The service is available for iOS in the US only and for Android in 23 different countries, including the US, Canada, UK, Europe, Singapore, Australia and New Zealand.

To accept the payment in-app, one has to open Stripe Dashboard and tap the plus symbol. Next, the merchant can select either the Charge a Card option or send an invoice.

Once Tap to Pay is chosen as your payment acceptance option, prompt your customer to tap their card to the device by following the instructions on the screen.

Besides being available in the Stripe Dashboard mobile app, the POS software can be integrated into other retail apps.

Last month, Stripe also enabled the Stripe Checkout solution to be embedded into any website, facilitating the online shopping process for both end customers and merchants.
