Ex-AWS Exec Launches AI Startup for ERP Systems

Bernard Leong, angel investor and ex-AI executive at Amazon Web Services (AWS), has launched a startup focused on financial enterprise resource planning (ERP) enabled by artificial intelligence.

Ex-AWS Exec Launches AI Startup for ERP Systems

Mr Leong described his experiences of “dealing painfully with glorified ERP systems” which motivated him to found the new DorjeAI startup in a fresh LinkedIn post.

“The vision of Dorje AI is to create the next generation open business operating systems to enable companies to be optimally efficient, productive, and continuously adaptive,” said Leong. According to his experience with medium and large enterprises, they often have trouble leveraging AI because their data is locked in a closed ERP system.

Enterprise resource planning (ERP) is a software system that helps you run your entire business, supporting automation and processes in finance, human resources, manufacturing, supply chain, services, procurement, etc. One of the key challenges of implementing a new ERP system is the need to migrate data from existing systems to the new platform. This can be a complex and time-consuming process that hinders innovations in existing management software.

Dorje AI is specifically focusing on the financial applications of an ERP. The product is currently in its testing phase. The dedicated website is live with the waiting list sign-up, and other functions of the given web resource will roll out in phases within the next few weeks.

Bernard Leong has been an angel investor focused on Web3 and AI for a while. He is also the founder and host of the Analyse Asia podcast discussing the subjects of business, tech and media in the region. During his career, Mr Leong worked as the head of artificial intelligence and machine learning for ASEAN in AWS. In his roles at Airbus Aerial Asia and Singapore Post, Leong worked on implementing innovative delivery methods (e.g.drones).

AWS is actively implementing artificial intelligence in various segments. Just a few days ago, the firm announced the launch of its virtual genAI assistants designed to solve business-related tasks and software development.
