Domino’s Pizza, which has nearly 20,000 locations across more than 90 countries, aims to drive pickups by integrating with?Apple CarPlay to power in-vehicle ordering.

This way, the quick-service restaurant chain enables consumers to make purchases via Domino’s app on their car’s console by simply tapping or calling. Although the current?iteration of Apple’s CarPlay doesn’t allow voice ordering, given the CarPlay’s Siri capabilities, voice ordering on the go may as well be the next step.

The move is part of the wider Domino’s efforts to direct customers away from the costlier delivery channels towards pickup options, which are less expensive for the restaurant. Previously, the brand started “tipping” consumers for picking up their own orders. Removing friction from the in-vehicle ordering process could boost the curbside pickup levels.

Besides, this integration reflects the industry-wide shift to more convenient ordering options, including voice ordering on the go. Thus, Uber Eats recently?integrated with Google Assistant to enable voice ordering via the Uber Eats marketplace.

Another fast-casual giant?Panera Bread?began letting its loyalty membership customers order by voice via?Amazon’s Alexa?on Echo Show devices. Previously, the brand also?integrated?with Apple’s CarPlay for in-car ordering. Finally, Panera Bread has recently piloted the Amazon One palm reading technology to enable seamless payments and access to the loyalty program.
