ChatGPT Allows Users to Create Custom GPTs on Their Own

OpenAI rolled out a new function enabling customers to create their own tailored versions of ChatGPT (GPTs) dedicated to specific tasks.

ChatGPT Allows Users to Create Custom GPTs on Their Own

The creator of ChatGPT, OpenAI unveiled custom versions of its flagship genAI chatbot. Called GPTs, customised versions do not require coding skills and are already available to ChatGPT Plus and Enterprise users.

According to the blog post, previously ChatGPT users could optimise the use of the popular chatbot only by manually copying complex prompts and instruction sets. With the new function, the AI tools will do it themselves.

Some examples of customisation include focusing on internal use for a specific company, teaching the rules of a particular game, helping with a specific project design, and more. Responding to public requests for tailored versions, OpenAI launched Custom Instructions in July. They let customers set some preferences, but the company states that “requests for more control kept coming.”

With the new update, anyone can become a creator of a customised GPT without any coding skills. Moreover, community builders will be able to share their creations with the wider public.

Later this month, OpenAI plans to launch the GPT Store. This online repository will contain GPT creations by verified builders. GPTs presented in the store will become searchable and climb the leaderboard rates. The most useful and delightful GPTs selected by the company will be categorised into topic sections like productivity, education, and “just for fun”.

In the coming months, OpenAI also promises to introduce monetisation features so that creators will be able to earn money based on how many people are using their GPTs.

The tailored versions will preserve privacy control policies utilised by the main ChatGPT bot. Thus, users will have the option to opt their accounts out of model training. If a GPT uses third-party APIs, you can choose whether data can be sent to that API or not. User chats with GPTs will not be shared with builders.

Meanwhile, ChatGPT itself is constantly developing. Last month, it was updated with verifiable links and more recent information, as well as got some humanlike features, now being able to see, hear, and speak.
