Ecommerce News has found that e-commerce in Germany is expected to be worth €103.4 billion in 2020. This would mean 10% increase, as the online retail industry was worth €94 billion last year.

The report highlights that 95% of the German population is expected to be online this year. And consumer adoption of e-commerce has always been high. For comparison, 84% of Germans bought something online in 2019.

Last year, the main drivers of online purchases were “direct delivery to my home” (67%), followed by “available round the clock” (66%) and “more convenient way of shopping” (61%).

As to the most popular devices for online shopping, 49% of online shoppers in Germany used a smartphone, whereas 42% used the desktop PC.
