Since users make purchases across Facebook apps to shop, donate, and send money to each other, Facebook decided to?introduce?their own payment service.

Facebook Pay will reportedly simplify the transactions, ensuring that payment information is protected. It offers users to choose the preferred payment method instead of re-entering the data every time. Every user will get real-time customer support via live chat. In addition to that, Facebook Pay won’t be automatically set up across the apps without the user’s agreement.

Users can also view payment history, manage payment methods, and update their settings in one place.

The app can be used for fundraisers, in-game purchases, event tickets, P2P payments in Messenger and purchases from select Pages and businesses on Facebook Marketplace.

The payment service rolls out in the US, with further expansion around the world. Facebook Pay supports most major edit and debit cards along with PayPal. The service is separate from the Calibra wallet, which will run on the Libra network.
