E-commerce in the UK to grow more than 10% this year

According to Ecommerce News, UK e-commerce is expected to be worth €222.5 billion by the end of 2020. That would sign an increase of nearly 11% compared to last year when the b2c e-commerce turnover was worth just over €200 billion.

The data also found that this year, 96% of the country’s population is believed to be online, compared to 87% in 2019.

As to the most popular parcel delivery provider in the United Kingdom, that’s Royal Mail with 52.7% of votes. It’s followed by Hermes (16.1%), DPD Group (14.2%), and Parcelforce (4.7%). At the same time, 4.1% of the respondents chose DHL, whereas 3.1% and 2.8% preferred Yodel and UPS, respectively.

The report revealed that clothing is the most returned product category among Brits, accounting for 30%. It is followed by shoes and consumer electronics with 13% and 7%, respectively.

The study also shows the most popular goods that are purchased online across the UK. For instance, 60% of people buy apparel and sports goods, followed by household items purchased by 49%. Besides, 44% of UK customers buy holiday accommodation, whereas 43% get travel arrangements online.

Amazon is the preferred online platform for apparel shopping among Brits. It’s followed by Marks & Spencer, Asos, Debenhams, Argos, Topshop, and Zalando.
