Highest wages are in California and NYC and the lowest in Georgia and Wyoming
According to payroll experts Wolters Kluwer Legal & Regulatory US, 26 states and the District of Columbia will raise the minimum wage in 2020. 22 of those states are going to implement the increases by January 1.
Seattle has the highest minimum wage rate at $16.00 per hour for large employers and $15.00 for small employers. The minimum wage is set at $15.00 per hour for all employers in New York City.
The report says that California will raise the minimum wage rates by $1 on January 1 ($12.00 per hour for employers with 25 employees or less, and $13.00 per hour for employers with 26 employees or more). At the same time, the highest state rate will remain in Washington at $13.50 per hour.
As to the lowest minimum wage rates, they are in Georgia and Wyoming at $5.15.
