Amazon and Santander Launch Amazon Visa Credit Card in Germany

Amazon Visa enables customers in Germany to earn rewards while shopping online and offline and redeem collected points at the Amazon.de website.

Amazon and Santander Launch Amazon Visa Credit Card in Germany

Amazon and Zinia, Grupo Santander’s consumer finance platform, partnered to launch the Amazon Visa credit card in Germany.

Among the benefits of the new product, there’s cashback on purchases, which can be redeemed at the checkout at Amazon.de, zero annual fees, and sign-up bonuses.

Amazon Visa cardholders will earn 1% rewards on Amazon.de purchases and 0.5% rewards on other purchases. Prime members may get an extra 2% cashback from Amazon Visa spending on Amazon.de during select shopping events, like Prime Day.

The offering is based on the capabilities of Santander’s B2C BNPL platform Zinia. This innovative solution uses AI-based credit assessment technology developed by Santander’s Openbank to make real-time credit decisions.

Payments through the Zinia consumer finance platform are flexible. Thus, Amazon Visa owners will be able to choose between full and revolving partial payments at any time.

Tracking of the accumulated rewards balance is available via the Amazon Visa app. It features the account activity review, bill payments, spending and payment due alerts, and more.

“We are delighted to partner with Amazon in offering customers in Germany a way to earn rewards on their spending with the Amazon Visa card. Zinia, our digital consumer finance platform, continues to expand its capabilities and clients base while remaining committed to building strong relationships with top-tier merchants like Amazon throughout our markets.”

Ana Botín, Chairman of Grupo Santander

Contactless payments are available with Amazon Visa up to €50, usually without a PIN entry. The initial maximum credit card limit after successful application approval is €2,000. An increase can be requested later, after the purchase history build-up.

The Amazon Visa is an eco-friendly financial product, made of at least 90% recycled PVC. A large share of Visa cardholders pay attention to sustainability. In 2022, 46% of consumers said they stopped buying from certain companies because of their negative impact on the environment or society.

The payment provider is committed to making payments greener. Besides recycled materials used for bank cards, the payment provider offers a carbon footprint tracker, and analysis of payment data in real-time, providing a picture of one’s environmental footprint.
