Amazon Launches AI-Powered Search for Fire TV

Amazon Fire TV gets a new AI-enhanced search that enables viewers to find personalized TV shows and movie recommendations using natural language.

Amazon Launches AI-Powered Search for Fire TV

Amazon has introduced an improved AI-enabled way to search for new content on Fire TV using Alexa. Now, customers can use complex or nuanced language to ask for media recommendations based on topic, genre, plot, character, actor, and even movie quotes.

Amazon Fire TV ?is a line of digital media players and micro-consoles developed by Amazon. It’s a type of smart TV integrated with Amazon’s Fire OS. The devices deliver digital audio and video content streamed via the Internet to a connected high-definition television. Fire TV features top streaming apps and channels across movies, live TV, music, and more.

Fire TV can be controlled with one’s voice via the Alexa virtual assistant. Alexa can not only help you find a specific movie or audio. The voice control also lets you jump to specific areas like “Live” or “Find” with voice. There is also an Alexa Explore destination on the Main Menu, which makes it easy to explore recipes, check the weather, get sports updates, and more.

With the newest update, you can also give Alexa a loose description of the content you would like to find. For example, one can ask Alexa to find psychological thrillers with surprise endings, medical drama shows, stories of animal and human friendships, or even a movie with the line ‘Life is like a box of chocolates’.

This new search experience is powered by an Amazon-built large language model (LLM), which interprets commands in natural language. The received recommendations are contextual and personalized. They include choices from one’s Prime Video or other streaming subscription libraries.

The new Fire TV search experience has already been rolled out to customers in the U.S. in English on select Fire TV devices running FOS6 and later. It will launch on all eligible Fire TV devices in the U.S. in the coming weeks.

Amazon is one of the leading global firms when it comes to AI development. Earlier this year, the company announced the launch of a beta version of its new virtual shopping assistant based on generative artificial intelligence.
